In conjunction with the City's Volunteers In Parks program, 28 sixth grade <br /> students wi !weed, sweep, rake, pick up litter, and plant trees at Irwin Park, located between E. <br /> ~ Irwin and .Irwin, just north of Barger. Another group of students will team up with Eugene <br /> i <br /> Stream Te m staff and volunteers to salvage saxifrage and camas from a site in west Eugene <br /> scheduled o be developed and then take a nature tour at Stewart Pond to Isom more about the <br /> wetlands h bitat and plant and anima! life. Finally, a third group of students will be stenciling <br /> storm drai sin their neighborhood with the message, "Dump no Waste. Drains to Stream," and <br /> placing ed rational door hangers with information about what residents can do to protect water <br /> quality. Th is the fourth annual volunteer stenciling project for the school. <br /> Vol nteers In Parks and Stream Team provide opportunities for members of the <br /> communi ,from elementary-age children to college students to older adults, to do hands-on <br /> work, imp ving the city's parks and restoring and caring for the city's waterways and natural <br /> areas.
