The City is hosting the meeting to i provide inf rotation about Eugene's efforts to protect habitat for wild salmon and to gather fee back from property owners and interested citizens about the strategy that could affe property next to salmon-bearing streams and rivers. Information about the proposed s rategy will be available in displays, literature and brief presentations at 5 f and 6 p.m. ity staff will be on hand to receive comments and answer questions. i The eetings are an outcome of the Eugene City Council's 2000 direction to staff to "work pr actively to support the recovery of spring Chinook salmon populations." Since then, the City has evaluated its own programs and practices and has implement a number of strategies to support recovery of wild salmon. At this Juncture, a ey question for the public to consider, and ultimately for the Council to decide, is ether the City should apply additional protection measures for salmon habitat, as mbodied in the proposed regulatory strategy?
