On May 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., <br /> the volunteer corps will remove blackberry canes and roots in an area where this threatened <br /> speaes of turtle dig their nests and lay their eggs. Interested community members are welcome <br /> to join the UO students and Stream Team volunteers in the effort, which will take place at the <br /> ponds along the bike path. Volunteers will meet at 10 a.m. near the Greenway Bike Bridge in <br /> the parking lot behind Valley River Center and walk to the project site along the ponds. <br /> Tools, gloves and snacks will be provided by Stream Team. Stream Team provides the <br /> opportunity for members of the community, from elementary-age children to college students to <br /> older adults, to do hands-on environmental work, restoring and caring for the city's waterways <br /> and natural areas.
