According to City of Eugene code, property owners are <br /> required to trim overgrown, or "nuisance;' vegetation on their property to prevent fire and traffic <br /> hazards. T e following conditions require trimming: <br /> • Gr and weeds over 10 inches <br /> • T sand shrubs that obstruct streets, alleys, and sidewalks <br /> • Bla kbeny vines that extend into a public right-of--way or cross property lines <br /> • An vegetation that obstructs motorists' visibility <br /> A ording to the City's Vegetation Program Manager Eric Cariaga, this is the fastest <br /> ` growing s ason he's seen in the six years he's been managing the program. °The conditions <br /> have been ripe for an extremely fast growing season, and we're seeing many more hazardous <br /> vegetation conditions than in previous years at this time," he says. <br /> Th City requests the cooperation of property owners in monitoring and maintaining <br /> vegetation and other debris on both undeveloped and developed property all the way up to the <br /> curb line d including the sidewalk. Property owners are notified about vegetation issues <br /> through n wspaper advertisements and/or by letter. If the problem persists, the City may correct <br /> tall grass nd weeds on undeveloped property any time between June 15 and September 30 <br /> without fu er notice. For problems on developed property, the property owner will be notified <br /> by letter a y time during the year and given 10 days to correct the violation.
