~i <br /> June 1, 200 <br /> CONTACT: Cindy Clarke, Transportation Options Coordinator, 682-5285 <br /> From Public Information Section, 682-5523 <br /> FOR IMME IATE RELEASE <br /> REGISTRATIONS ACCEPTED FOR PEOPLE POWERED FRIDAYS <br /> The fifth Annual People Powered Fridays, sponsored by the City of Eugene, LTD <br /> Commuter olutions, and PeaceHealth, begins June 1 and runs through August. <br /> Peo le Powered Fridays is an opportunity for residents and commuters in the Eugene <br /> area to take advantage of our mild summers and find a fun way to save money and also <br /> improve air uality, personal health, and the livability of our community. To participate, people <br /> agree to lea a their cars at home at least one day a week during the summer months and bike, <br /> walk, or us some other manual alternative to driving to work. <br /> Reg trations for People Powered Fridays are accepted on the City of Eugene website <br /> (www.ci.eu ene.or.us); at all three Eugene Public Library branches; at Sheldon, Amazon and <br /> Echo Hollo pools, and at WheelWorks, Paul's Bicycle Way of Life, Collins Cycle Shop and <br /> REI. All wh register are eligible to win T-shirts and other prizes donated by Burley Design <br /> Cooperativ ,WheelWorks, Paul's Bicycle Way of Life, Collins Cycle Shop, and REI. <br /> Fre coffee and pastries from Full City Coffee Roasters and Bagel Sphere will be offered <br /> <br /> `i <br /> at three pu lic celebrations on the third Friday of June, July, and August from 7 to 8:30 a.m. <br /> A Fuji Boul vard bicycle from WheelWorks will be given away as the first grand prize at the <br /> celebration n June 18.
