The total
includes m nthly increases of 57¢ for local wastewater service and $2.18 for regional
wastewate service.
The increase in the local wastewater rate is needed to continue providing the current
level of se ice. Eugene's local wastewater rates have not increased since 1993, despite
substantial ncreases in costs for operations and capital construction projects.
The regional wastewater rate increase will help pay for capital projects to expand and
upgrade th wastewater system to accommodate future growth, avoid raw sewage overflows
caused by ainy weather, and meet new, more stringent regulatory requirements to protect
water quali of the Willamette River. These capital projects are contained in the Metropolitan
Wastewate Management Commission's updated facility plan, which identifies $144 million in
wastewate projects over the next 20 years to be paid for by user fees and systems
developme t charges. /
v
Publi Works • Administration • City of Eugene • 858 Pearl Street • Eugene, OR 97401
Phone: (541) 682-5262 • FAX: (541) 682-6826 • www.ci.eugene.or.us
