Receives National Attention <br /> The ity of Eugene Parks and Open Space Division was the recipient of the coveted <br /> 2004 Bronze null Award, sponsored by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). The <br /> national awa recognizes creative tactics in a public relations campaign, and the division <br /> received the ward for Eugene Outdoors!, the division's semiannual newsletter, in the category <br /> of "Newslett ,fewer than 16 pages." Awards were announced during a special event held <br /> June 3 in Ne York City, home of PRSA headquarters, and the results were posted this past <br /> Monday on t e PRSA website at www.prsa.org. <br /> "The RSA Bronze Anvil rewards great creativity and results in public relations tactics," <br /> said David H Simon, APR, Fellow PRSA, chairman, Bronze Anvil Awards and public relations <br /> consultant. " my the best entries from across the country were selected to win this honor." <br /> The urpose of Eugene Outdoors! is to share information about the City's parks and <br /> open space rograms and services and encourage residents to enjoy and participate in the <br /> volunteer, ucational, recreational, and donation opportunities available. "V1le have produced <br /> five issues o the publication to date and consistently receive complimentary feedback from the <br /> community," says Therese Picado, publication editor and Parks and Open Space Public <br /> Information pecalist. "It is, of course, very gratifying to receive national recognition for creating <br /> a useful, qu lity publication." <br /> The ronze Anvil Awards were created by PRSA more than 34 years ago to recognize <br /> outstanding ubiic relations tactics. They are awarded in 50 categories and subcategories. <br /> Bronze Anvi winners in other categories include major organizations, such as Eastman Kodak, <br /> Taco Bell, H J. Heinz, Amazon.com, United Nations, and U.S. Postal Service, many of whom <br /> contracted 'th national and international public relations firms to create their products.
