The event includes a site tour of the playground's unique play areas in their <br /> p oposed locatio s. A play replica of Skinner Butte, an ancient history sand dig, miniature Willamette River, <br /> a d Kalapuya an pioneer villages will bring Eugene's cultural and natural history alive for children of all <br /> a es and abilitie at this hands-on, state-of-the-art playground. <br /> The proje t is funded in part by the 1998 parks and open space bond measure, but, in order to <br /> r alize the full sc pe of the vision, donations of cash, labor and materials are needed from the community. <br /> e Eugene Rot ry Club, in partnership with the City of Eugene, has pledged to help fund and build the <br /> p ayground at Sk nner Butte Park. Since the donation campaign was launched last April, nearly $90,000 has <br /> b en raised, incl ding a $30,000 grant from the Van Evera and Janet M. Bailey Fund of the Oregon <br /> ommunity Fou ation, $25,000 from the Eugene-Springfield New Car Dealers Association, $15,000 in <br /> a vertising spac from Valley River Center, $10,000 in in-kind donations from Jerry's, and nearly $6,000 <br /> f m contribution from community members. According to Bob Mylenek, Kendall Lexus General Manager <br /> a d Eugene Rot ry Club fundraising co-chair for RiverPlay, the campaign has solid momentum and has <br /> a hieved 20 per ent of its goal for phase one. "We're just getting started," says Mylenek. <br /> RiverPla also includes another regional playground at Alton Baker Park. Construction of this <br /> p ayground is sc eduled to begin summer 2005.
