All H~ho participate in the scavenger hunt <br /> ar eligible for pri es. <br /> Funded by the 1998 Parks and Open Space bond measure, the 5.5-acre neighbofiood park, located <br /> p Oakmont Way ff of Oakway Road, offers a wide variety of active and leisure activities. The new <br /> pl yground featu s a sand play area and modem play equipment, including a climbing wall, swings, spring <br /> to s, and interadi a water fountain. Nearby, an informal basketball curt doubles as a place to hold <br /> ~ ighbofiood eve ts. Paths curve gently through the park, providing a key bicycle route and connecting the <br /> h ighbofiood wit new crosswalks to the Oakway Center, while aloft-surface jogging/walking trail takes <br /> rk users on a nding, quarter-mile loop through the meadows. Surrounded by restored native oak <br /> s vannah prairie, he park is an oasis of green, with more than 150 new trees, plus large, open lawn areas <br /> ~ d a series of rol ing hills for frolicking, picnicking and sunbathing. <br /> Eric Wold nd his 2'/z -year-old son, Keb, live near the park rind are frequent visitors. "Oakmont <br /> rk is an absolu gem," says Woki. "We could stay in the park for Hours."
