The agreement is between the Bonneville <br /> Power Ad inistration and The Nature Conservancy. <br /> Th land acquisition will be formally announced during a celebration being held at the <br /> Willow Cr ek site on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 10 a.m. Many high-ranking federal, local and state <br /> governmen representatives and representatives of The Nature Conservancy will attend the event. <br /> Directions o the celebration are provided below. <br /> BP purchased a conservation easement on four properties totaling 165 acres just west <br /> of Eugene, re. The acquired lands will become part of the West Eugene Wetlands/Willow <br /> Creek Wil life Mitigation Area, which includes an existing 340 acres of protected land managed <br /> by The Na re Conservancy. The Willow Creek site supports a diverse array of flora and fauna <br /> including o er 200 species of native plants, 100 birds and 25 butterflies. Protection and <br /> manageme t of the site will benefit populations of six at-risk species including four species <br /> listed unde the federal Endangered Species Act. <br /> When: We nesday, Oct. 13, 10 a.m. <br /> Where: Willow Creek Wildlife Mitigation Area, just west of Eugene. Directions provided below. <br /> Agenda: a participants listed below will provide short statements followed by a short <br /> presentatio by The Nature Conservancy.
