CONTACT: <br /> ¦ Came Peterson, Park Development Coordinator, 68'2-4907 <br /> ¦ Therese Picado, Parks and Open Space Public Information Spedalist, 682-48141682-4800 <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> Community Invited to Participate in Grassroots Fundraising Campaign for <br /> New Regional Playground at Skinner Butte Park <br /> Community orgarrtizations, families, RiverPlay donors, and all interested community members are <br /> invited to find out more aYboirt RiverPlay and how they can become RiverPlay ambassadors, and help <br /> promote Eugene's largest and most unique playground at Skinner Butte Paris at a public meeting next <br /> Wednesday, October 20'4 from 6 to 8 p.m. The meeting, which will take place at Campbell Community <br /> Center at 155 High Streit in Eugene, will provide an overview of the project. fundraising goals, and key <br /> community involvement programs, as well as a pizza dinner for all participants, prizes, and a staffed activity ~ <br /> zone featuring RiverPlay~exhibits for younger children. <br /> Participants will fled out how they can earn free bricks and tickets to a Hult Center show, eam 10 <br /> percent of bridle sales foriitheirvon-profit organization, be a RiverPlay media spokesperson, and give <br /> presentations to other community organizations through the "One Bridle at a Time" community involvement <br /> program. City parks planing staff will facilitate mini-workshops on the outreach and fundraising roles <br /> available. In addition, pa~tidpants will be encouraged to share their ideas about how they help the City <br /> promote and realize this Viands-on, state-of--the-art playground. <br /> The new RiverPlaly playground will bring Eugene's cultural and natural history alive for children of all <br /> ages and abilities throug~r a variety of unique play elements such as a play replica of Skinner Butte, an <br /> ancient history sand dig, miniature Willamette River, and Katapuya and pioneer villages.
