Rain or shine, <br /> v lunteers will f son removing herb Robert and nipplewort-two invasive, non-native weeds-from park <br /> 4 <br /> r dsides and tra Is. Integested volunteers are asked to meet at the F.M. Wilkins Shelter at 2200 Summit <br /> <br /> „iA enue at 9:30 a.m. to enjoy pastries, coffee and juice courtesy of the Eugene City Bakery and the Friends <br /> o Hendricks Pa beforeaheading to the forest and trails. <br /> F <br /> Voluntee will be instructed in techniques for removing non-native, invasive plants while protecting <br /> t native plants f the forest. Controlling the spread of invasive weeds in the forest is one of the main <br /> o jectives of the endridcs Park Forest Management Plan. By removing invasive plants, the native species <br /> h ve a better op rtunity to reproduce and flourish in the forest. Over the past three years, volunteers, <br /> ntractors and rk staff have cleared ivy from about 16 acres of the park's forest. Following up with <br /> r moval of sewn ary invasive plants, such as Herb Robert and nipplewort, is essential for maintaining the <br /> Y <br /> rk that has b n accomplished. <br /> Tools and equipment will be provided, and long-sleeved shirts, long pants and sturdy shoes or boots <br /> a e recommend Two'nrolunteer planting parties may be scheduled this winter with regular monthly <br /> v lunteer opport nines resuming again in April or May.
