Just a few bbcks south from South <br /> Eugene High School lies Amazon Park. The community park is a popular destination for residents from all <br /> around Eugene, and be~:ause it's well-loved, it's in need of some attention, and these industrious students, <br /> members of SERV, the high school's community service club, are glad to give back to the community by <br /> devoting a Saturday afternoon of hard labor improving the park. From noon to 3 p.m., they will clean play <br /> equipment in the park's playground, resurtace wom areas in the playground with impact-resistant <br /> engineered woodchips, end clean and possibly paint surrounding picnic tables and benches. ' <br /> "This group of students contributes to all kinds of community projects regularly throughout the year," <br /> said Volunteers in Park$ Coordinator Matt McRae. "We are very appreaative that they're helping us make <br /> k <br /> some needed improverr`ents to Amazon Park." <br /> SERV, which stands for South Eugene Responsive Volunteers, provides students with the <br /> opportunity to make ne~v friends while getting involved in the community.
