The trek begins at Amazon <br /> Creek, near 11"' Avenue and Terry Street, at about 9:15 a.m. and continues to Meadowlark Prairie <br /> Overlook and then o~ to Fem Ridge Reservoir for lunch. The tour ends with a hike, to the top of the Fern <br /> Ridge Dam f r a draimatic view of the Amazon Creek as it enters the reservoir. Students will learn about <br /> the area's ershe~l, the water cycle and how to protect this important resource, as well as the <br /> wetlands a ystem as they look at the soil, plants, water, and wildlife. This is the second class <br /> participating n the tqur which is part of a year-long program Village School teacher Sally Grimsrud has <br /> f <br /> 3 <br /> organized in njun~tion with Stream Team. <br /> Stre Team provides educational and volunteer opportunities for members of the community, <br /> from elemen ry-age children to college students to older adults, to learn about and care for the city's <br /> waterways d natyral areas.
