The students and volunteers will first meet at 2 p.m. at <br /> 1 Pacific on the University of Oregon (UO) campus for fish identrflcation training. By approximately 3 p.m., <br /> t e group will co vene ~t the slough, located off of Delta Highway just north of the Beltline Bridge, to learn <br /> w to operate t e fish Trap. <br /> The traini g will ~e conducted by Erik Moberly, a biologist from the Oregon Department of Fish and <br /> ildlife. With th help of City natural resources staff and several UO students in the service teaming <br /> rogram, Moberl instal~ed the fish trap at the slough last month. The slough connects the northern portion <br /> f Delta Ponds t the VV~Ilamette River during high winter flows, and the new fish trap will allow City staff to <br /> onitor what fis speci~s are moving back and forth from the river into Delta Ponds by way of the slough. <br /> he fish trap will be monitored daily throughout this winter and spring, and Stream Team volunteers will <br /> ontinue to mon for the #rap to determine how fish populations respond to the resulting hydrological changes <br /> fter the ponds re connected to the river by an Army Corps of Engineers construction project scheduled to <br /> E <br /> egin next sprin <br /> For mor infom~tion about this Delta Ponds enhancement project, call 682-4925.
