Matt McRae, Volunteers In Parks Coordinator, 682-4845, 912-2142 (cell) <br /> ~F~R IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> River Road Neighbors to Rejuvenate Riverside Filbert Grove <br /> On Saturday, February 12, from 9 a.m. to noon, community members are invited to join a group of <br /> River Road neighbors and the City's Volunteers In Parks program to help rejuvenate a riverside filbert <br /> !grove. About 50 filbert trees need to have dead wood removed and pruning to encourage healthy new <br /> growth. Tutored by City arborists, volunteers will remove dead wood and do structural pruning to rejuvenate <br /> the trees. In preparation for the work party, a Sheriff's municipal court offender crew will provide better <br /> access to the grove by clearing the area of blackberries and ivy in advance. The grove is located on the <br /> V'M/iUaMette River West Bank bike path at the end of McClure Lane. <br /> Too{s, gloves, and safety gear will be provided. Water and a restroom will also be available on site. <br /> appropriate clothing and footwear are recommended.
