Other interested neighbors and <br /> clomiir~unity members of all abilities are welcome to lend a hand as the volunteer crew, supervised by City <br /> tree specialists, plants trident maple, swamp white oak, red horsechestnut, hedge maple, burr oak, and <br /> r~ortlhem red oak around the heavily traveled intersection of East 19th Avenue and Hilyard Street. <br /> "VVe are very excited about the very diverse mix of trees we picked for this site, and it will look <br /> i <br /> ~we~ome in the years to come," says NeighborWoods Coordinator Rick Olkowski. °It's going to be sunny so <br /> ~re'ne hoping lots of people come out to enjoy the weather and plant some trees." Olkowski's brother, who <br /> I~as',cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair, will be participating in his first tree planting work party this <br /> Saturday. Olkowski hopes to incorporate more persons with disabilities in future work parties as well. <br /> Tools, gloves, safety gear, and refreshments will be provided. The NeighborWoods program works <br /> Mvith local businesses, school groups, community groups, and neighbors to build Eugene's urban forest and <br /> j improve water quality by planting street trees.
