The project will involve using powered
wheelbarrows, a powered loading device, and plate compactors to load, move, and compact the final 30
yards of gravel necessary to finish the trail. The Rotarians began work on the trails last fall and have
held regular work parties monthly since. These efforts are part of a larger restoration and recreation
effort underway at Delta Ponds, funded by the City, the Army Corps of Engineers and several other local
and state partners.
Work will take place off of Goodpasture Island Road just south of Kingsley Road (parking is
available just south of the apartment complex on the east side of the road). Water, proper footwear and
appropriate clothing are recommended. Instruction, tools and snacks will be provided. To sign up or for
more information about this and other park improvement projects, call the City's Volunteers in Parks
program at 682-4845, e-mail volunteersinparks(d~ci.eugene.or.us or visit
www.ci.eugene.or. us/parks/maint/vip. htm.
