Other interested community
members are also welcome. All volunteers are asked to meet at the F.M. Wilkins Shelter at 2200 Summit
Avenue at 9:30 a.m. to enjoy pastries, coffee and juice courtesy of the Eugene City Bakery and the Friends
of Hendricks Park before heading to the forest and trails.
Edison students and their families have been working at Hendricks Park for the past few years. Last
spring, they helped re-surface the Wildflower Trail that allows park visitors to enjoy wildflowers that blossom
in areas cleared of ivy. This effort is part of the school's learning service program, which provides an
Qpportunity for Edison students to combine education and service to the community. The purpose of the
Friends of Hendricks Paris is to raise awareness of Hendricks Park as a valuable community and regional
resource, provide stewardship in the management of the park by assisting with the implementation of the
Hendricks Park Forest Management Plan, educate the public about issues that affect the park, and
generate a broad base of community support for the park.
Tools and equipment will be provided, and long-sleeved shirts, long pants and sturdy, non-slipping
shoes or boots are recommended.
