Skinner Butte Loop between Lincoln and W. <br /> will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Road access to the top of the butte is available via the eastern <br /> sectign of the Poop, accessed off of W. 3'~ from High. <br /> By the end of the morning work session, visitors to the park should notice the difference. The <br /> s~as4ned volunteers, in conjunction with Parks and Open Space staff, plan to accomplish an ambitious <br /> ~sl~te of work, including resurfacing parking areas, building walkways, removing ivy from frees, refurbishing a <br /> ~g~`avel walkway. restoring two planter areas, installing a basalt maker to identify the former location of the <br /> summit reservoir, and removing brush and other debris around the Shelton-McMurphey-Johnson house. <br /> The effort is in part guided by the Skinner Butte Park Master Plan adopted in 2002. The park's <br /> master plan calls for the restoration and long-tens preservation of popular, historically sign cant views from <br /> 'the summit of Skinner Bu#e, native upland prairie habitat that once covered nearly all of Skinner Butte, and <br /> 'triails, Since 1996, the Eugene Rotary Club has sponsored several significant volunteer rehabilitation and <br /> b~auitification pn~jects on Skinner Butte, including the Veteran's Memorial overlook and flag.
