The students will help organize the plants while
learning about what role the nursery plays in the cycle of restoration, which includes collecting seeds and
taking cuttings, growing them out at the nursery and replanting them in natural areas around the city.
Meredith Andersen, the club's coordinator, is very enthusiastic about this opportunity to give back to
the community. "I helped out a bit when I was younger with the Stream Team with my dad," says Andersen.
"I thought of how much fun 1 had had and I am really glad this worked out for our club."
The students will team how members of the community and the City partner in the effort to enhance
natural areas across the aty. Each year, thousands of Stream Team volunteers perform a variety of tasks,
including seed collection, digging up plants for salvage, taking cuttings, propagating these plants in the
nursery, and ultimately re-planting them In natural areas. Stream Team now operates two native plant
nurseries. The other nursery is located in Alton Baker Park.
