Interested participants should bring a <br /> picnic lunch, fishing gear, and fishing license (kids under 14 are not required to have a license) at the <br /> catch-and-release event. The event wilt take place at Delta Ponds just off of Goodpasture Island Road. <br /> Parking is limited; alternative transportation is encouraged. <br /> The fish derby is part of a larger effort to study fish and wildlife at Delta Ponds and will provide <br /> important information about what species of fish are can-ently living in the ponds. The students of the <br /> Service Leaming Program (SLP) of the University of Oregon are helping assess the species of plants <br /> and wildlife that live at the ponds, including turtles, frogs, salamanders, birds, and fish, as part of a major <br /> habitat and recreation enhancement project cun•ently underway at Delta Ponds. The enhancement <br /> project is a collaborative effort between the City of Eugene, the Army Corp of Engineers, the Oregon <br /> Department of F'Ish and Wildl'rfe, U.S. Bureau of Land Management, and other state and local partners. <br /> For more information ca11682-4925 or 346-5003. <br /> <br />
