Join other history buffs, witnesses, tradition bearers, and other fellow Eugeneans In <br /> sharing these remembrances in historic Talking Circles at the historic celebretion and grand opening of <br /> Skinner City Farm on Sunday, June 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. The free event also indudes other historic <br /> presentations, the unveiling of the gates created by local artists, garden tours, vermicomposting demo, <br /> music, food, and fun for all ages. The City's newest and most Innovative community gardens is located at <br /> the west end of Skinner Butte Park at the foot of Washington Street on Cheshire. <br /> Bob Hart, director of the Lane County Historical Museum, and Alice Parman, exhibit planning <br /> consultant, will lead the historic Talking Circles. Listen and share eyewitness accounts, family stories, and <br /> oral histories about the land naw called Skinner Butte Park and Eugene's rivertront. To share a story and <br /> participate in the talking circles, call 3448322. Some of the stories will ultimately be compiled and displayed <br /> as a web-based exhibit. <br /> Skinner City Fans (SCF), acitizen-driven, non-profit organization, develops programs that educate <br /> about the historic and agricultural importance of the area, as well as provide opportunities for people of all <br /> abilities and means to cultivate food. Currently, 14 youth and 21 families from five different community <br /> groups that serve people in need are tending individual and organizational plots at the farm.
