Watering has become necessary because of the unseasonably hot temperatures. The students will <br /> ~r use water from the ponds to water the plots. When the work is done, Eugene Stream Team Coordinator <br /> l~oma Baldwin will lead a tour of the Delta Ponds and discuss the major restoration and recreation protect <br /> qurr~ntly underway at the natural area, located off of Goodpasture Island Road, north of the auto <br /> dealdrships. <br /> The test plots are being utilized by the City of Eugene Natural Resources staff and students from the <br /> Service Learning Program (SLP) of the University of Oregon to assess the speaes of plants that live at the <br /> fonds. Other wildlife, including turtles, frogs, salamanders, birds, and fish, is also being assessed. The <br /> habitat and recreation enhancement effort is a partnership among the City of Eugene, the Army Corp of <br /> engineers, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, U.S. Bureau of Land Management, Oregon State <br /> marks, and other state and local partners. <br /> Stream Team provides the opportunity for people of all ages to do hands-on environmental work and <br /> loam more about the city's watennrays and natural areas.
