Public Works crews will collect leaves in every Eugene
neighborho twice between October and January, and will deliver leaves to residents upon request,
as supplies nd schedules allow.
The rogram helps prevent street flooding caused by clogged gutters, catch basins, and
storm drain It also emphasizes the value of recycling leaves by delivering them to residents, the
City's com unity gardens and community groups such as Food for Lane County, and commercial
recyGers, o use them as mulch or compost. Leaves that aren't delivered are recycled as
compost m terial.
Res ents are encouraged to reuse and recycle leaves before placing them in the street for
pick up. Le ves can be used as mulch or compost material for home gardens or landscaped areas,
and can be recycled by placing them in your yard debris container, or by taking them to a
commerca recycler, such as Rexius, Lane Forest Products, and GREENCO Recycling.
If r idents choose to pile leaves in the street, they should hold their leaves until the
weekend p 'or to collection in their area. Pile leaves at least 15 feet away from parked cars so staff
can easily ick up the piles, and place leaves at least a foot from the curb to avoid clogging storm
drains. To ensure that the leaves can be used effectively as compost, leaf piles need to be free of
branches nd other yard debris: Leaf piles must not block bike or traffic lanes-
Le ves will be collected according to the following schedule:
Flr t Round Second Round
Oct. 31 th ugh Nov. 4 -west Eugene Dec. 12 through Dec. 16 -west Eugene
Nov. 7 thr ugh Nov. 11 -central Eugene Dec. 18 through Dec. 30 -central Eugene
Nov. 14th ough Nov. 18 -north Eugene Jan. 2 through Jan. 6 -north Eugene
Nov. 21 t rough Dec. 2 -southeast Eugene Jan. 9 through Jan. 13 -southeast Eugene
Dec. 5 thr ugh Dec. 9 ~ southwest Eugene Jan. 16 through Jan. 20 -southwest Eugene
