This free festival will offer children to opportunity to see a wide variety of <br /> ward winning na ure-related short films from around the world. The films range from live action shorts <br /> <br /> r sot over Kenya, t the 2005 Academy Award nominee for best animated short. Many of the films came <br /> ighly recommen ed by both the New York and Los Angeles Children's Film Festivals. Three of the films <br /> ere created by I cal Eugene filmmakers who will be on hand following the screening to discuss the <br /> aking of their fil s. One of the films features the elusive Fenders Blue Butterfly that lives in the <br /> illamette Valley. <br /> T e festival is bei kicked off by Mayor Kitty Piercy and is followed by an informational reception with <br /> " font critters," an information about outdoor activities taking place in our community. Reception <br /> p rticipants includ REI's PEAK outdoor program, Pacific Tree Climbing Institute, Near by Nature, <br /> t. Pisgah Summ r Camp, and the City of Eugene Recreation Division. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and <br /> t e 70 minute scr ening begins at 2;00 p.rn. The festival is being generously sponsored by <br /> r. Gray Grieve rthodontics. <br /> A I Eugene filmma ers will be available for interviews. The City of Eugene Parks and Open Space <br /> vision is hosting his first festival in celebration of the 100"' Anniversary of Eugene Parks. It is planned <br /> t make the festiv Ian annual Eugene event, and filmmakers from around the country are already <br /> s bmitting films fo next year. <br /> <br />
