<br /> _ _ <br /> ~ ~ i <br /> January 18,', 2008 <br /> i <br /> III CONTACT:!~Lindsay Selser, Transportation Planning Technician, 682-5094 <br /> From Public Information Section, 682-5523 <br /> FOR IMMEr~IATE RELEASE <br /> I <br /> New Strategic Plan to be Unveiled at Walking and Biking Summit on Jan. 26 <br /> Eugene's second Walking and Biking Summit promises to be an engaging and <br /> educational levent with plenty of opportunities for networking and learning about bicycle and <br /> pedestrian i$sues, including the release of a new pedestrian and bicycle strategic plan. <br /> The ~ummit will be held in the South Eugene High School Cafeteria, 400 East 19`h Ave., <br /> on Saturday's January 26. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with speakers and workshops from 9 <br /> a.m. to 1 p.nh. The event is free and open to the public. <br /> The summit is hosted by City staff and the Community Planning Workshop of the <br /> University o~ Oregon. City staff will release the final version of the pedestrian and bicycle plan <br /> at the summa, and participants will discover plenty of opportunities to take on one or more of the <br /> 80 actions dcsigned to achieve the vision of a more walkable and bikable Eugene. <br /> Maydr Kitty Piercy will kick off the summit by addressing the participants and thanking <br /> ~'i the citizens bn the Department Advisory Committee who helped write the plan. This will be <br /> followed by t~'he unveiling of the new Pedestrian and Bicycle Strategic Plan.
