Eng neering staff then route the application to the various reviewing divisions, <br /> ending at the aintenance Planning Section of the Maintenance Division. <br /> f upon initial r view of the application, the plans are found to be unclear, incomplete, or <br /> naccurate the application and plans will be returned to the applicant for correction and re- <br /> ubmittal. <br /> ersonnel oft a Maintenance Planning Section perform the final review. Utility lines are <br /> valuated fort a construction techniques proposed, their location and depth in the public <br /> ay, and proxi ity to existing and proposed city owned facilities. The objectives of this <br /> valuation are o determine conformance to rules and standards affecting work within the <br /> ublic way, an to prevent or minimize interruption of services to the public due to a <br /> ermittee unk owingly excavating and damaging City infrastructure. <br /> he Utility Ins ctor will make a field review of the area for the proposed work. Special <br /> ote will be m de of any unusual or unique conditions observed in the field. Specific items <br /> note shall in lude: <br /> Landsc ping -Street and planting strip beautification is an area of great concern <br /> to the In pector. Any existing special landscaping will be documented. Upon <br /> <br /> ~ complet on of the proposed work, the landscaping shall be returned to a condition <br /> as near s possible to that which existed before such work began. <br /> Trees - verhead work may conflict with a tree's branches, and underground work <br /> with the ree's roots. Trees are a valuable City resource and every effort shall be <br /> taken to avoid any damage to a tree. The Urban Forester shall be notified and <br /> request d to comment whenever the proposed work zone falls within the critical <br /> root zon of a street tree. Special conditions for tree protection and damage <br /> preventi n shall be noted on the permit application or associated plans. <br /> Existin Utilities -Compare the drawings provided by Engineering Division <br /> personn Ito what can be visually located. Note any discrepancies and verify <br /> location prior to the issuance of the permit. Discrepancies shall be reported to the <br /> Enginee ing Division personnel who will make the necessary corrections to existing <br /> records. <br /> Where eded, the Utility Inspector shall request the Transportation Division to <br /> locate tr ffic signal and illumination conduits. The Utility Inspector will note any <br /> conflicts with the proposed work and will specify requirements for the applicant to <br /> coordin to resolution of such conflicts with the Transportation Division.
