Trench bac fill within the public way shall be compacted to a minimum of 95% <br /> Relative Ma imam Density as determined by AASHTO T99, method D as corrected <br /> for oversize by AASHTO T-224. Compaction shall be accomplished using <br /> mechanical vibrators or impact tampers. Wheel rolling by a truck or backhoe shall <br /> not be acce table. <br /> Within sire ts, alleys and sidewalks trench 6ackfill shall consist of 3/4"-0 Crushed <br /> Base Aggr gate or, with prior approval, controlled density fiM. Pea gravel shall not <br /> be allowed s an o tion. <br /> In trenches crossing a street or alley right-of--way at right angles to the alignment, <br /> cement-ad ed aggregate with a minimum of ~ '/2 sacks of portland cement per- <br /> cubic yard r CDF may be used. Excavated materials shall not be allowed for use <br /> as trench ckfili except in unimproved portions of the public way. <br /> Controlled ensity fill (CDF), also known as flowable backfill, is a cementious <br /> material m ed, transported, and delivered using normal ready mixed concrete <br /> operations ,CDF is a mixture of cement, aggregates, water, and admixtures such <br /> as fly ash roportioned to provide anon-segregating, self consolidating, free- <br /> flowing an excavatable material CDF is a hardened, dense, non-settling fill that <br /> requires n compaction effort. <br /> Traffic ma temporarily be placed directly upon CDF prior to paving as soon as it <br /> has suffici ntly hardened so that the surface will withstand traffic or construction <br /> equipmen loading without deformation. If CDF is used as a temporary surface <br /> restoratio material, the surface shall be maintained and repaired due to damage <br /> by traffic. <br /> 10 All portlan cement concrete used in the. replacement of streets, alleys or sidewalks <br /> shall obta n a minimum breaking strength of 3,300 psi in 28 days and conform to <br /> sections 12 through 215 of the Standard Specifications. <br /> 11. All ornam ntal surfacing shall be replaced "in-kind" to that surfacing removed. <br /> Where se bons of sidewalk are requested to be removed by the perrnittee, they <br /> shall be r moved to the nearest existing score or joint in each direction. <br /> 1 Where s coons of curb or curb and gutter are removed by the permittee, a <br /> minimum of ten (10) linear feet of curb and gutter shall be removed and replaced. <br /> An altern tive to this requirement shall be removing and replacing three (3) linear <br /> feet of c rb and gutter with the new curb and gutter tied into the existing curb by <br /> inserting "X #4 rebar dowels into drilled one-half inch diameter by three (3) inch <br /> deep hol sin the adjoining existing curbs and gutters, one dowel in the curb and <br /> two dow Is in the gutter at each end of the replaced section. <br /> ~JJ~ <br /> <br /> Ultility & R/W Permit olicy 18 12/09/97 <br /> <br />
