<br /> 07/07/06 FRI 10:46 FA.T 541 682 4882 EUGENE PW MNTNC & POS PW ADMIN f~002 <br /> Community members participated by purchasing and inscribing over 1,000 entrywoy bricks as part of the "One <br /> Brick at a Time" campaign. <br /> Playground features include the 25-foot Skinner Butte Climber with 8 foot basalt-like climbing columns, a <br /> wheelchair accessible bridge and 12-foot super slide. At the Ancient History Sand Dig children con search for <br /> arrowheads, ancient scone tools, and a life size ichthyosaur fossil. The 30-foot long Little Willamette River runs <br /> through the playground and is crossed by a "kid powered" ferry. The Kalapuya Village invites children to explore <br /> the life of the eorliest known inhabitants in our area with a summer dwelling, dug out conoe, and the 8-foot Rain <br /> Circle Place which marks the beginning of the Little Willamette River. In the Pioneer Village, a host of old-time <br /> Eugene buildings, based on actual structures, invite creotive play of the early days, including o city hall, jail, school <br /> house, and mercantile. <br /> The Eugene Rotary Club selected RiverPlay as their Rotary Centennial Project, celebrating 100 years of Rotary in <br /> America. The Eugene Rotary Club is a 290-member strong service organization established in 1923 with o long and <br /> successful history of involvement in vital community projects. <br /> Donors for the project include: Meyer Memorial Trust, Eugene/Springfield New Car Dealers Association, Kelley <br /> Family Foundation, Van Evero and Janet M. Bailey Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation, Wells Fargo, <br /> Chambers Family Foundation, Eugene Water and Electric Board, Education Fund,. Jerry's Home Improvement <br /> Center, and Valley River Center. <br /> <br />
