With input from focal neighbors, <br /> the pa has undergone a series of renovations. Some wanted updated play equipment far <br /> childre ,others wanted to see their park, which had become a magnet from undesirable <br /> activity, restored to a place where children~could ante again play safely. Funding from d <br /> Comm pity Development Block Grant (CDBG) was used to replace the surfacing of the play <br /> area, w ile supplemental City funds helped pay for new play equipment, site furnishings, a <br /> sand pl y area, accessible paths, and picnic tables. <br /> In race t years Monroe Park had suffered from a pattern of illicit activity. Thanks to an <br /> increas d public safety presence in the park, additional recreation programs, and renovations, <br /> the pa has been returned to a place the entire neighborhood can enjoy. <br /> <br />
