i

I~~
> ~
°
_
August 29, 2007

' CONTACT: Jenifer Willer, Garden Way Path Project Manager, 541-682-5364
Scott Milovich, Delta Ponds Project Manager, 541-682-6086

~,i From Public Information Section, 682-5523 or 954-2938
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
~ Duck Fans Can Plan Ahead to Avoid Bike Path Closures
A reminder to University of Oregon football fans planning to attend Saturday's home
opening game at Autzen Stadium: portions of two area bike trails are closed for construction.
As Duck fans flock to the stadium for the 12:30 p.m. kickoff against the Houston Cougars,
they should keep in mind that the East Bank Trail is closed in the Delta Ponds area and the
Garden Way Path will be closed south of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Repairs to the North
Bank Trail from Valley River to Club Road are substantially completed, and that path is open.
The East Bank Trail will be closed until early October due to construction to enhance
habitat and recreational opportunities in the Delta Ponds area. People planning to use the East

' Bank Trail to get to the stadium (including those coming from LTD's River Road park-and-ride
station) should use the West Bank Path from the Owosso Bridge south and recross the river to
the east side at either the Greenway Bridge (at Valley River Center), the DeFazio Bridge (next to
the Ferry Street Bridge) or the Autzen Footbridge near the stadium. Or, people can detour from
the East Bank Path to Goodpasture Island Road and rejoin the path at Valley River Center.
Travel from the park-and-ride at Valley River Center should not be affected by the path closure.
The Garden Way Path is closed for resurfacing repairs from just north of Martin Luther

~ King Jr. Boulevard to the Bardell Avenue connector. People planning to approach the stadium

I''~ using the North Bank Trail can use Lindley Lane to Bardell Avenue and get back on the bike path
south of Bardell.

;
Eugene Public Works • www.eugene-or.gov/pw
858 Pearl Street, Eugene, Oregon 97501 • 541-682-5523 • fax 541-682-6826 • e-mail pwadmin@ci.eugene.or.us
