Public Works
Engineering
City of Eugene
244 East Broadway
Eugene, Oregon 97401
(541) 682-5560
(541) 682-8410'FAX
..Memorandum
Date:. July 22, 2008
To: File
From: Matt Rodrigues, Project Manager
Subject: GJN 4483.. PPP Barger Dr.-Additional budget authorization due to increased Surface
Stabilization
All,
Once milling was completed and a few spot surface stabilization repairs had been
performed on Barger Dr. we found that an approximately 1200-foot section of
pavement 7' to 10' wide adjacent to the north curbline was unstableand failing as
work progressed. Investigation showed that this section of the street was constructed
as part of a widening project as was approximately 3 to 5 inches of deteriorated
pavement on subgrade. Passage of a 3/4 ton truck showed substantial deflection on this
pavement. It was decided after examining the pavement along this line to expand the
.quantity to include the length and width of the widened section as discussed above.
This led to approximately $64k in additional contract work and increased inspection
costs on the project. This budget request is to increase the project budget to cover this
work and allow. us to pay the Contractor for this work in the coming pay period.
~~~
