i <br /> <br /> I <br /> <br /> i <br /> p > ~ ~ <br /> I!i <br /> July 6, 2007 <br /> ~ CONTACT: Cindy Clarke, Transportation Options Coordinator, 682-5285 <br /> Lee Shoemaker, Bicycle & Pedestrian Coordinator, 682-5471 <br /> ~ From Public Information Section, 682-5523 or 954-2938 <br /> FOR IMMEQIATE RELEASE <br /> `Breakfast at the Bridges' Rewards People-Powered Commuters <br /> Commute by biking, walking, skating, or any other non-motorized transportation option on <br /> ~ Friday, July 13, and stop by for a free breakfast at "Breakfast at the Bridges." <br /> July 91n Motion community partners will be at four locations on different bike bridges <br /> ~ throughout Eugene, serving free coffee and bagels and offering free bike safety checks and <br /> opportunities to win prizes including bike safety gear. <br /> REI and the Eugene Bicycle Coalition will be at the Autzen Bridge (south side); <br /> WheelWorks and the Greater Eugene Area Rlders (GEARS) will be at the Blue Heron Bridge <br /> ~'~I (behind Albertsons on 18`h); Burley Design and the Bicycle Transportation Alliance will be at the <br /> Greenway Bridge (south side); and Commuter Solutions and Paul's Bicycle Way of Life will be at <br /> the Ferry Stt-eet/DeFazio Bridge (southeast side). The coffee and bagels are being provided by <br /> Full City Coffee Roasters and BagelSphere. <br /> ~ July'In Motion is a month-long series of activities geared toward non-motorized <br /> <br /> j transportation options including bike rides for riders of varying skill level, walking tours, and other <br /> fun events culminating with the grand finale, the People Powered Festival. Rides, walks, and <br /> activities are coordinated by leaders from local clubs such as the GEARs, Walk-with-Me, the <br /> Eugene Bicycle Coalition, and other community groups. Commuter Tutor assistance is available <br /> during the morning commute on Tuesday, July 10, and Tuesday, July 24, for those who are <br /> interested in commuting to work by bike and need help planning a route planning. <br /> A complete calendar of July-in-Motion events can be viewed by going to www.eugene- <br /> or.gov/julyinmotion. Those who register on the July In Motion web site and make a commitment to <br /> use non-motorized transportation at least once each week during the month of July have a <br /> chance to win prizes offered by local businesses. <br /> July»in-Motion and the People Powered Festival are sponsored by the City of Eugene, <br /> Commuter Solutions, and PeaceHealth to encourage biking and walking in our community.
