City has completed a public master plan for the property.
"Once we realized the high level of community interest in extending the ridgeline trail through the property,

we were excited to help make it happen," said Suzanne Arlie, president of Arlie & Company. "We are

thrilled to make this important addition to this treasured open area that is already heavily used by the
community. Donating the funds to design and create the trail will ensure that it is improved and that hikers
are able to enjoy this spectacular open space in the very near future."
"The acquisition of this section of the Ridgeline Trail brings the goal to link Mount Pisgah to Fern Ridge for
hikers closer to fruition. This is an incredibly important and exciting acquisition for the preservation of
parkland in the Eugene /Springfield Metro area," said Terry Smith board president of the Eugene Parks
Foundation. The property is identified for acquisition in numerous Open Space planning documents such as
the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Project and Priority Plan that was adopted by the city council in
2006 and the Regional Open Space Strategy document "Rivers to Ridges" that was endorsed in 2003 by
Eugene, Springfield and Lane County. The property was also identified in information related to the Parks
and Open Space bond measure that was approved by Eugene voters in 2006.
"This is the most significant acquisition for the Ridgeline in the last 25 years," said Mayor Kitty Piercy."
appreciate the City staff's careful stewardship of public funds and the partnership with Arlie & Company to
enable this significant addition to our community's treasured Ridgeline Trail."
About Arlie & Company
Arlie & Company, based in Eugene, Oregon, is a diversified, family-owned real estate development and
management company committed to environmentally-friendly development practices.
