Starting
rrodgy, the 12-mile ystem will be much easier for visitors and residents to navigate. City of Eugene Parks
and' Open Space s aff will be installing new wayfinding signs at several Ridgeline Trailhead locations this
morning. The signs feature three dimensional photographs of the system and will be complimented by a
series of smaller di ectional signs placed deeper on the trails.
Thee Ridgeline Trail traverses approximately 1,000 acres of beautiful terrain, and is a very popular and well-
used part of Eugen 's Parks and Open Space system. The new and improved kiosks, signage, and maps
will provide a broa er array of users with the ability to find trailheads and identify where trails begin, end,
and intersect other trails. In addition, they will help trail users understand basic trail conditions, such as trail
distpnces, elevatio gain, grade, bed material, and other information that may be important to users with
more limited caps ilities. The improvements will also assist both hikers and emergency service providers
whd are called to ssist with both minor and major emergencies. Partial funding for these improvements
was provided by a Recreation Trails Program grant from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department to
the City of Eugene
1
