s, s ~ ~ <br /> <br /> July 10, 200 <br /> CONTACT: Joe Ramirez, Project Manager, 541-682-5228 <br /> From Public Information Section, 682-5523 or 954-2938 <br /> FOR IMME IATE RELEASE <br /> Expect Detours and Delays As Street Work Resumes Around New Courthouse <br /> Stre t work in the new federal courthouse district will resume on Monday, July 14, and will <br /> include lane closures on the southbound Ferry Street Bridge viaduct. <br /> Cre swill bore a conduit under the southbound viaduct at Eighth Avenue to prepare for a <br /> new traffic s gnal at Eighth and Mill. The work will require lane closures. <br /> Late next week the work will shift to installing a new lane and barrier on the southbound <br /> viaduct on t e Ferry Street Bridge. The right-turn viaduct lane to Eighth Avenue will be closed <br /> during cons ruction, and motorists destined for Eighth Avenue will have to exit at Sixth Avenue and <br /> take Pearl treet to Eighth, or continue in the single remaining viaduct lane and take Broadway to <br /> High Street o Eighth Avenue. <br /> Late this summer, after the intersection work at Eighth and Mill is completed and the new <br /> viaduct con figuration is done, crews will repave Franklin/Broadway/Mill Street from 11th Avenue to <br /> High Street. <br /> Wor on the current phase of the courthouse transportation project has been under way <br /> since lasts mmer. Construction in the right of way was suspended for the last several weeks to <br /> avoid any c nflicts with the Eugene 08 track and field trials. The project is scheduled to be <br /> completed t is fall. <br /> The ~4 million courthouse area transportation improvement project is a cooperative effort <br /> involving th City of Eugene and the Oregon Department of Transportation, with funding coming <br /> from Lane ounty, the federal government and the City of Eugene.
