_ _ ,
Overview
Significant changes have occurred in Fleet Services during the past two years.
Fleet spent year one examining customer needs, past practices, and areas
needing improvement such as fleet maintenance, asset management, budgeting

practices and customer services. Fleet Services spent year two implementing
three key strategies for achieving a more efficient and effective operation:
• Updating information system and technology to better measure
personnel effectiveness, implement tailored OEM maintenance
programs, and ensure regulative financial and environmental
compliance.
• Implementing staff development plan to improve technical and
interpersonal competence, creating a positive and competitive team
environment.
• Establishing a customer service improvement plan, introducing better
accountability, performance measurements, and unique service profile
and commitment through department service level agreements.
While Fleet Services is not yet all it can be, fleet management and staff have
begun the transition of updating key operational, technical, and interpersonal
skills using best practices and nationally recognized trainers and consultants.
