Currently a mechanic goes to City
Hall each day to check for cars in need of repair and shuttles them back to the shop. Police have found a way to have I
volunteers shuttle the vehicles starting in July. This will free one of our mechanics for more productive duties.
We reached agreement with Police last week to start billing them on a monthly basis instead of on mileage. This will fix the
under payment of fleet rates by Police and provide $83,000 of additional revenue this year. Next year the additional
revenue will be close to $200,000.
Police will be turning in about a dozen vehicles so they can reduce their Fleet expenditures and balance their budget.
Thanks,
Jeff
x4813
-----Original Message----- '
From: DAVIS Carlos A
Sent: Thursday, January 09, 2003 6:53 PM
To: LANKSTON Jeff
Subject: FW: Vehicle Shuttle Proposal
fyi
Carlos A. CSO Officer Eric Humphrey will conduct daily checks (Monday - Friday) at 0800 hours, to determine if there are
any pending EPD vehicles marked for pending repair needs. CSO Humphrey or other CSO staff person will be
responsible for the daily notification of PW Fleet staff, who will then continue to respond to shuttle EPDvehicles. j
Effective immediately.
2. New Practice -Officers will deliver vehicles (24 hours a day) which require repairs, directly out to PW Fleet., Police
i
1
i
