The overall goal <br /> recognized by the oversight committee (City of Eugene Police, City of Springfield Police, Lane County Sheriffs, <br /> and Eugene Water and Electric Board) is to build a system which meets the intent of the COPS Grant (connection <br /> of dispatch centers within the metro area, and to provide an interoperable communications system between these <br /> agencies. Other areas also considered were as follows: <br /> 1. Ensure the system meets but hopefully exceed the capability of the existing system <br /> 2. Ensure that system was maintained within industry standards <br /> 3. Ensure technicians received training adequately maintain this system without dependency upon high <br /> cost vendors such as Motorola <br /> 4. Ensure that the system was sustainable by putting in place a life cycle recovery replacement system <br /> shared by each partner agency <br /> <br /> Project Update• <br /> 1. Motorola presented system costing $5,491,283.00 to implement on September 13, 2006 (Attach A) <br /> 2. Grant available for this project is $4,300,000 which includes a DHS Grant of $300,000 plus partners <br /> matching funds (Attach B) <br /> 3. Gap shortfall to complete project as submitted is as follows: <br /> a. Difference quote to grant with Motorola discount $1,214,283 without discount $1,726,748 <br /> b. City estimated''portion for needed site upgrades $400,000 <br /> c. Motorola Training with travel, meals, and lodging costs for three staff is $56,097 <br /> d. The total Shortfall to date is $860,380 <br /> 10/6/2006 <br /> <br />
