Eugene Delta have stepped up to help construct a path connection from Goodpasture Island Road to Dedrick Slough.
The bulk of the project is being funded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to restore aquatic habitat and make
recreational improvements in the Delta Ponds, a 144-acre ecosystem of ponds, channels and wetlands owned by the City
of Eugene along a stretch of the Willamette River just downstream from Valley River Center. The corps is in the process

of"developing the plans and specifications for the construction project. Invasive species removal and plant salvage work is

expected to begin this fall. Construction is currently scheduled to begin in summer 2004. For more information, contact
Kevin Finney, City of Eugene Project Manager, at 682-6018.
2
