This proposal also included the
aspect of a joint project with SEN to build a pedestrian bridge, which made the
change to the Canyon Drive connection more financially feasible.
Work is continuing forward in the development of this trail construction project. Our
trail consultant has finalized the new alignment and has altered the contract
documents as necessary. Parks staff provided the City's Planning Department with a
project overview and construction details in order for a determination to be made
regarding any land use issues necessary for the project to proceed. A copy of that
decision is attached.
I realize that having a public trail exiting park property on Canyon Drive adjacent
your property will have a measure of impact on what you have described to me as a
very private and quiet neighborhood street. Our design process has endeavored to
minimize negative neighborhood impact while still providing a needed public access
to parkland and the ridgeline trail. We will monitor impacts and in addition will
work with the neighborhood and future trail users to minimize impacts to neighbors
once the trail is in place.
Sincerely,
Johnny Medlin, Director
Parks and Open Space Division
