-2-
July 1, 213U3
Following April's meeting, staff agreed to further address concerns by working in
partnership with SEN volunteers to improve the alternate route. Subsequently, a
proposal was developed by SEN leadership to realign the Canyon Drive connection
in a way they felt to be more acceptable to the majority of the neighborhood. This
proposal also included building a pedestrian bridge, which made the change to the
Canyon Drive connection more financially feasible.
Work is progressing in the development of this trail construction project. Our trail
consultant has finalized the new alignment and has altered the contract documents as
necessary. Parks staff provided the City's Planning Department with a project
overview and construction details, and planning staff have assessed land use issues
associated with the project. A copy of that decision is attached.
I realize that having a public trail exiting park property on Canyon Drive adjacent to
your property will have a measure of impact on what you have described to me as a
very private and quiet neighborhood street. Our design process has endeavored to
minimize negative neighborhood impact while still providing a neede: public access
to parkland and the Ridgeline Trail. We will continue to work c os~~ith neighbors
throughout the design and construction process and with future trail users once the
trail is in place to minimize impacts to neighbors.
Sincerely,
~ ~,~~ ..~
Jo~inny Medlin, Director
Parks and Open Space Division
Cc: Betty Taylor
.Dennis Taylor
Kurt Corey
Andrea Riner
Philip Richardson
Kevin Matthews
