c~ <br /> s i <br /> i <br /> August 17, 199 <br /> CONTACT: C olyn Weiss, Park Planner, 682-4914 <br /> From Public In ormation Section, 682-5523 <br /> ;FOR iMMED ATE RELEASE <br /> CONCEPTU L PLANS FOR WALNUT GROVE PARK ON DISPLAY AUGUST 21-29 <br /> The co ceptual development plans for Walnut Grove Park will be on display in the main <br /> lobby at the Ri er Road Park and Recreation District office, 1400 Lake Drive, from Saturday, <br /> August 21, thr ugh Sunday, August 29. <br /> Volunt ers from the local section of the American Society of Landscape Architects, <br /> University of regon students and City of Eugene parks planning staff prepared the drawings <br /> based on a Seri s of community meetings on how best to manage the park site located next to <br /> Dianna/Kelly and south of Maxwell Road. The overwhelming consensus was to preserve and <br /> enhance the ex sting habitat used by western pond turtles and other species native to that area. <br /> The conceptua plan does envision some amenities such as paths and a pond overlook. <br /> On We esday, August 25, Eugene parks planning staff will be on hand at the River <br /> Road Park Iob y from 6 to 7 p.m. to answer questions and take comments about the Walnut <br /> Grove Park co ceptual plans. Comment forms also are available at the display. <br /> At 7 p. . on Wednesday, members of Eugene Stream Team will hold a work party at the <br /> future pazk sit to pick up litter and remove invasive vegetation.
