The work effort, which is being coordinated through the City of <br /> i <br /> jEugene's Volu teers in Parks (VIP) program, will start at 9:30 a.m. and run until early afternoon. <br /> ~ Project olunteers include 14 students from the High School Equivalency Program <br /> r (HEP), Webelo and parents from Cub Scout Pack 28, staff and members of Recreational <br /> ~i <br /> Equipment Inc. and other community residents. Roseburg Resources Co. is donating 250 <br /> ~~Douglas fir tree , and a company representative will be on hand Saturday morning to instruct <br /> (volunteers on p oper planting techniques. Members of the Native Plant Society have been <br /> working with ity staff to mark locations for the tree and fern plantings, and the City inmate <br /> work crew has ut and cleared large amounts of invasive blackberry to prepare for the plantings. <br /> ~ Saturda 's project is the second time this year students in the HEP program have teamed <br /> I <br /> up with an area forest products company to stabilize slopes in the Eugene area. Last weekend, <br /> about 20 HEP udents planted 500 mixed species trees donated by Weyerhaeuser Co. on the side <br /> i <br /> slopes of the C ambers Connector.
