The im rovements are intended to <br /> I~, p <br /> I!~ enhance bicycling and walking as modes of transportation on 15"' Avenue, which is an important link ~ <br /> III in the route that connects the University of Oregon and the Fern Ridge Path. <br /> ~!i The project is a cooperative venture by the City of Eugene Public Works Department and the <br /> Oregon Department of Transportation and is funded by a $240,000 federal grant and matching City <br /> I'I transportation funds. A 10-member advisory committee made up of neighborhood residents assisted <br /> in the project design. <br /> During construction, access on I S"' Avenue will be maintained for bicycles and local traffic. <br /> I <br /> (However, cyclists are encouraged to use alternate route to avoid the construction area, and motor <br /> (vehicle through traffic is likely to encounter detours around work zones.
