Just ask the students who are moving <br /> gravel at the skinner Butte climbing columns to help get a general equivalency development <br /> (GED) certifiicate. <br /> This Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a group of students from the High School <br /> Equivalency grogram at the University of Oregon will help move gravel from the bottom of the <br /> climbing coliitmmns to the top of the columns in Skinner Butte Park. <br /> The students have the opportunity to get their GED in one term. The program, which is <br /> funded throu~h the Department of Agriculture, has an 85% success rate in helping students go on <br /> to higher edulcation or acquire better jobs. One of the requirements of the program is community <br /> service. This is the first term that the community service is being required, and this is the second <br /> group to come and work with the City's Parks Volunteer Program.
