Of particWlar importance are the trees that line Charnelton Street south of 10th Avenue and the ees on the nor~h property line along 10th Avenue. Given the age and close proximity of the trees to the ture library bui~ding, the City staff and the architect team hired to design the new library, want to take reventative me~sures by requiring that each tree be examined before moving further into the library esign process. ~ On Mon~ay, December 7, the asphalt covering the root system of the trees along Charnelton nd 10th Avenues will be carefully removed to conduct an analysis of the condition and extent of the root ystem. Certifie arborists will examine the trees and root systems to assess overall tree health. The xamination will include proximity, condition, depth and impact the trees may have upon the design of i he library. Depending upon the health of the trees, the arborists may consider the possibility of pruning he root system, if necessary. About a ~uarter of the parking lot on the corner of Charnelton and 10th Avenue will be blocked ff while this wok k is under way.
