Dan Hinkley of <br /> Heronswood, a seven acre maritime garden and nursery in Kingston, Washington, will draw <br /> upon his extensive horticulture experience at the lecture. Admission is $5 or $3 for members of <br /> the Willamette Valley Hardy Plant Group. <br /> The Heronswood nursery is owned and operated by Hinkley and Robert Jones. Their <br /> catalog offers more than 2,300 taxa including many plants which are unusual or only recently <br /> introduced. Hinkley also works as a garden consultant and has written articles for horticultural <br /> publications. His first book, Winter Ornamentals, was published in 1993. He is currently at <br /> work on The Plant Hunter Unusual Perennials for American Gardens. <br /> Hinkley is a leader in American horticulture and travels frequently in Europe and Asia in <br /> search of new plants from nurseries as well as natural habitats. His most recent venture was <br /> collecting seed from plants in Eastern Nepal last fall. <br /> The Hendricks Park Horticulture Lectures are sponsored by the City of Eugene, the <br /> Willamette Valley Hardy Plant Group and Gossler Farms Nursery.
