Company officials state <br /> they w to break ground on the building by July 1995 and start production within 24 <br /> months. a City has been advised that the total investment planned by Hyundai is <br /> projec to be $1.3 billion. The building has not been designed. <br /> Hyundai plans to employ 800-1,000 people in skilled and semi-skilled jobs at its west <br /> ~ Eugene lant. The company has secured an agreement with Zane Community College for <br /> job train g and intends to hire employees from within the state of Oregon. The land is properly zoned; fundamental infrastructure is in place. The <br /> Hyun proposal is consistent with the build-out envisioned for this industrial park. Since <br /> the earl 1980s, the adopted economic development plans of the City have focused on <br /> diversi ing the local economy and on high technology as a desirable option for <br /> diversi tion of the local employment base.
